It was never a question of whether or not The Punisher, as well as Jessica Jones would suffer the same fate as Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil. More like it was just a matter of when. While the Marvel Netflix series have all been officially snapped out of existence, Jon Bernthal posted an image of himself as Frank Castle just one hour ago, before the official cancellation news. In the Instagram post, as well as on his Twitter page, Bernthal sends his gratitude to the soldiers who have served and know the same kind of pain that Frank himself has no felt.
More than that, Jon Bernthal considered it an honor to walk in Frank Castle’s boots as The Punisher. He’s grateful not just to the men and women who have served, but the comic book fans as well, but more than that, the soldiers who helped train him for this role. Here, have a look at Bernthal’s goodbye to Frank Castle in the post below:
As we know by now, the Marvel Netflix characters are officially on ice until 2020. So we may not see the likes of The Punisher and the rest of the Marvel Netflix roster for quite some time now. How and where they’ll appear after that is anyone’s guess. They probably wouldn’t be on Disney+ since the shows cater to a difference than what Bob Iger has discussed. There’s always Hulu, which already hosts The Runaways, but would it be the same versions of these characters?
Or, go a step further, maybe The Punisher and the other cancelled characters can appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU proper, I mean, because no matter how much Jeph Loeb says it, it’s not as connected as you may think. But either way, what do you think of Bernthal’s farewell to Frank Castle and The Punisher series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Marvel’s The Punisher is available now on Netflix. Enjoy it while you can.
