Jon Favreau Joins ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Wow, this cast for Spider-Man: Homecoming just continues to grow. We knew that Robert Downey Jr. would be part of the film, reuniting with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, but now we have another Iron Man connection in the new film. Jon Favreau is now set to reprise his role as Happy Hogan in the film. Variety was first to report.

Without Favreau, the Marvel Cinematic Universe would not be where it is today. Having directed the first Iron Man film as well as Iron Man 2, the director has been instrumental to the development of the entire structure of the MCU. He’s added such an interesting flavor to his films that helped make both Iron Man and to another extent, Robert Downey Jr. the big man on campus.

Adding Happy Hogan to the already-eclectic cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming is nothing short of exciting. It makes me wonder about what type of role he will serve in this adventure. I assume the role isn’t too significant, but I would like to see Happy interact with Tony Stark as well as Peter Parker in this film.

What do you guys think of this news? Do you think Spider-Man: Homecoming will be able to handle all of these different characters while still managing to remain true to the character of Peter Parker? Let’s just hope it doesn’t repeat the same mistakes that past Spider-Man films have made in the past.

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7, 2017. Meanwhile, Jon Favreau’s latest film The Jungle Book is now available on Blu-Ray and DVD.
