Since the coronavirus pandemic spread across the world, Hollywood was effectively shut down. Many films and shows had to halt production and the release dates were pushed back. Surprisingly, however, this did not include the hit Disney+ Star Wars show, The Mandalorian.
During a recent roundtable, Jon Favreau confirmed that The Mandalorian would be maintaining its October release date. He went on to say that filming had been finished and the editing and visual effects were being done remotely:
“We were lucky enough to have finished photography before the lockdown, so thanks to how technology-forward Lucasfilm and ILM are, we’ve been able to do all the editing visual effects remotely… It will be available as planned on Disney+ in October. It will be building on hopefully what people loved from the first season. It doesn’t feel like the next season, it feels like work continuing.”

Here is the official synopsis for The Mandalorian:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The Star Wars series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.
