Earlier this week, DC Extended Universe fan finally received the sad news that Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Ben Affleck’s time as the Caped Crusader is over. This means that Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman movie will feature a new actor in the cape and cowl. Since the new actor has yet to be announced, DCEU fans have taken to social media to show off their impressive art depicting who should play the iconic vigilante on the big screen next.
Mad Men star Jon Hamm has been a fan-favorite choice to play both Batman and Superman since as early as when Man of Steel was still casting its Superman. An awesome new piece of fan art has popped up on Instagram that features Jon Hamm as the new Dark Knight for the DCEU and it makes a very compelling case for why the actor is perfect for the role. Check out the awesome fan art in the post below.
Despite the large amount of comic book movies that have been produced over the past ten years, Jon Hamm has yet to star in one. If Warner Bros. and DC wanted to reboot the character on the big screen, the actor has proved that he can bring quite a bit to the role with his incredible performance on the long-running AMC series Mad Men. That being said, if Warner Bros. and DC instead wanted Hamm to simply play the same Bruce Wayne played by Ben Affleck, he still has the ability to play that older, mature Caped Crusader for the DCEU.
This year, fans will also see a new Joker join the DCEU. Jared Leto originally played the Clown Prince of Crime in 2016’s Suicide Squad but now Joaquin Phoenix will be playing the role in the period-piece origin story simply titled Joker, set for release this October. Although Leto has yet to be officially relieved of his Joker role, he will be playing a new comic book villain in the upcoming Morbius; the living-vampire movie for Sony.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding the DCEU’s new Dark Knight and Matt Reeves’ highly-anticipated Batman movie as soon as more information becomes available. What’s your opinion on this impressive art piece featuring the new Dark Knight? Do you think Jon Hamm would be a good replacement for Ben Affleck in the DCEU?
