Jon Watts Debunks Rumors About Michael Barbieri’s Role In ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Earlier this month, we broke news that Michael Barbieri had joined the cast of the Spider-Man: Homecoming. Following that news, some rumors began circulating regarding his role in the upcoming film and that Barbieri would be playing a version of the character Ganke, a close friend of Mile Morales in the Ultimate Spider-Man series. Well, it seems that those reports were inaccurate as director Jon Watts has taken to Twitter to comment on said rumors and make it quite clear that Barbieri’s role in the film isn’t based on that particular character.

So, we’re back to square one on this one. With his role being kept under wraps, wouldn’t be surprised if Barbieri ends up playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s incarnation of Harry Osborn. With production kicking off and the chance that Sony could bring something from the film to San Diego Comic-Con next month, there’s a good chance that we could learn more about his role in the film very soon. Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section below.
