Warner Bros. Taps ‘Lego Batman Movie’ Director Chris McKay For ‘Jonny Quest’

The Wrap reports that The Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay has been tapped to helm Warner Bros.’ Jonny Quest film.

Based on the 1960s Hannah-Barbera prime-time animated series of the same name, Jonny Quest will center on the adventures of the eponymous boy hero as he travels around the world solving world threating mysteries with his scientist father, adopted brother Hadji, and former secret agent bodyguard Race Bannon. According to the outlet’s sources, a major movie star is being eyed to play Race Bannon in the feature film adaptation.

In addition to his work on The Lego Batman Movie, Christ McKay is also attached to direct the live-action Nightwing film and will next helm Paramount Pictures’ Dungeons & Dragons.

Created by Dough Widley, the animated series spawned a media franchise that includes two additional television series, two TV films, and computer games. DC Comics recently released a crossover comic book series titled Future Quest, which featured Jonny Quest and several other Hanna-Barbera characters.
