Batman hasn’t starred in a solo movie on the big screen since 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, the final chapter of director Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. Ben Affleck debuted a new big-screen Dark Knight in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a role that he reprised in 2016’s Suicide Squad and 2017’s Justice League. Ben Affleck has since left the role and although a new Caped Crusader has yet to be cast in the Matt Reeves-directed Batman movie, fans seem pretty sure that Josh Gad would be the perfect actor for The Penguin.
The Penguin is one of Batman’s most iconic villain, who has had many different interpretations over the years. The Penguin has appeared on the big screen only once, played by Danny DeVito in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns. Many fans have since expressed their desire to see actor Josh Gad play The Penguin and thanks to incredible fan art from William Gray via Instagram, fans can get a glimpse at what Josh Gad could look like as The Penguin for the highly-anticipated Matt Reeves film. Check out the awesome artwork in the post below.
Josh Gad has shown throughout his career that he can play both very goofy and very serious characters, which is one of many reasons fans want to see the actor in Matt Reeves’ Batman film. The official cast of villains for the film has yet to be revealed but the film has been given an official release date of June 25th, 2021.

The latest DC Extended Universe film is Shazam!, which hits theaters in just a few short weeks. Check out the full synopsis for the film:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou. Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
