Josh Trank Reveals Why He Left The Boba Fett ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off

Josh Trank recently revealed the real reason why he left the planned Boba Fett Star Wars spin-off film.

The Star Wars franchise has had an issue lately when it comes to losing directors. The first director who left a Star Wars project under Disney over “creative differences” was Josh Trank, who was best known for Chronicle and was hired to direct the Fantastic Four reboot at the time. Of course, there have been several director exits since and the Fantastic Four production had many issues.

It was previously unknown what Star Wars project Josh Trank was working on back then, but it has since been revealed that it was centered on Boba Fett. While talking to Polygon, Trank said that he actually decided to leave the Boba Fett film because he thought he was going to get fired by Lucasfilm based on the Fantastic Four production rumors that were circulating:

“I quit because I knew I was going to be fired if I didn’t quit.”

Here is the official synopsis for The Mandalorian:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The Star Wars series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.

The Mandalorian season two will premiere in October on Disney Plus. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood and subscribe to our YouTube channel for the latest news on the Star Wars franchise!
