The interview in question wasn’t so much a traditional interview as it was the actor and Natalie Portman answering the most common questions asked about them on Google for Wired. The two actors were promoting their latest film, Vox Lux, when the question regarding Jude Law’s role in the upcoming Marvel film came up. The question asked the folllowing: “Is Jude Law Captain Marvel.”
The actor, however, was quick to deny this and confirmed that it was, in fact, another actor in the film:
“No, I’m not. Bree Larson is Captain Marvel.”
He then looked around in a joking panic to make sure the Marvel police wouldn’t shoot him. The full video in all of its goofiness can be seen below.
Obviously, the actor’s tone meant that his statement was not meant to be taken seriously and he was clearly having fun with one of the film’s biggest mysteries. So, technically, he did deny that he is Captain Marvel. He just didn’t deny that he is the Captain Marvel that everyone thinks that he is.
Since Jude Law was first announced in the role there have been conflicting reports regarding the character he is portraying. Originally he was thought to be playing the original Captain Marvel, Walter Lawson. However, reports have come up stating that he is, in fact, Captain Marvel antagonist, Yon-Rogg, backed up by a leaked photo of an action figure of the character. Until we hear something official from Marvel, however, we can only speculate.
What do you all think of Jude Law’s remark? Do you think he is the original Captain Marvel? Is he another character? Why do you think Marvel Studios is playing coy about his character’s identity? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
