‘Jumanji’ Star Kevin Hart’s Near-Fatal Crash Caused By Reckless Driving

In a report by the California Highway Patrol, investigators say the car crash involving Jumanji star Kevin Hart was caused by reckless driving.

Last month, Jumanji: The Next Level star Kevin Hart was involved in a car accident that resulted in injuries requiring major surgery. On Thursday, the California Highway Patrol released a report that provides details on the circumstances that led to the accident.

According to investigators, a man named Jared Black was driving Kevin Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda while the Jumanji star was a passenger in the vehicle along with the driver’s fiance. The report says Black accelerated recklessly while turning on to Mulholland Highway and lost control of the vehicle as a result.

Consequently, the vehicle careened down an embankment and hit a tree. The report also states that evidence from an examination of the vehicle suggests Kevin Hart and the other parties involved were not wearing seatbelts.

Furthermore, the report states that Black was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and though he did violate the law, it did not specify whether charged were likely to be laid. The CHP report also redacted statements Kevin Hart and the other people involved gave to investigators.

Jumanji star Kevin Hart released the following statement through his attorney on Thursday:

“I have nothing but love for Jared and wish him and Rebecca a speedy recovery.”
