Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle debuted during the holiday season of 2017 and earned an outstanding $962.1 million at the worldwide box office, with a sequel set to be released in December of this year. Now, Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blain, and Morgan Turner have closed deals to reprise their roles as the teen characters who were transported to the world of Jumanji in the previous film.
Director Jake Kasdan will return to helm the sequel from a script written by Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg. The third Jumanji film stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, and Danny Glover.
Based on the children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, the Jumanji franchise has followed the misadventures of characters who find themselves plagued by a magical game. The 1995 film starred Robin Williams in the lead role and followed the book’s story of wild jungle animals invading the real world while the sequel updated the concept to follow a group of teens who are transported to the world of Jumanji through a video game.
The third Jumanji film will be released in theaters on December 13, 2019.
