‘Jurassic World 2’ Brings Back Jeff Goldblum

Dr. Ian Malcolm himself, Jeff Goldblum, will be making his long-awaited return to the Jurassic franchise in Jurassic World 2.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Dr. Ian Malcolm himself, Jeff Goldblum, will be making his long-awaited return to the Jurassic franchise in Jurassic World 2.

Plot details on the upcoming sequel are still under wraps but both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be returning as Owen and Claire as the franchise continues the storyline of weaponized dinosaurs introduced in Jurassic World. BD Wong will also once again appear as Dr. Henry Wu.

The sequel has also added Toby Jones, Justice Smith, Rafe Spall, Ted Levine, Daniella Pineda, Geraldine Chaplin, and James Cromwell into the mix.

While Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow exited the project to helm Star Wars: Episode IX, he and his writing partner Derek Connolly penned the script for the still untitled Jurassic World 2. Trevorrow is also serving as exec producer on the project along with Steven Spielberg and producers Frank Marshall, Pat Crowley, and Belén Atienza. Sara Scott is overseeing production for Universal Pictures.

Directing the film is J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) who confirmed back in December that the new film will once again feature the use of animatronics. Not only will Bayona be bringing his horror sensibilities to help bring the project back to its roots, the use of animatronics could be a return to form for the dino-rampaging franchise.

Part of what made the original Jurassic Park such a magical experience in 1993 was the way in which it combined the animatronics by Stan Winston and the computer graphics from ILM to trick your eyes into believing what you were seeing was real. Jurassic World, unfortunately, only featured one single practical effect.

Jurassic World 2 is slated to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.

So what do you think? Are you excited for Goldblum to return? Are there any other characters you would like to see come back? Let us know in the comments below.

Laura Dern who played Dr. Ellie Sattler, the feminist paleobotanist in Jurassic Park, expressed interest in returning for a future installment of the Jurassic franchise just last month. As for Goldblum, the actor will next be seen later this year as Grandmaster in Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok directed by Taika Waititi.
