In a recent interview, Colin Trevorrow revealed where he got the inspiration for Ian Malcolm's dialogue in the upcoming Jurassic World sequel.
One critical piece missing from Jurassic World was Jeff Goldblum’s character of Ian Malcolm, but the upcoming sequel to the 2015 smash hit will be remedying that fact. Set to appear in the sequel to Jurassic World, the beloved character of Ian Malcolm first appeared in Jurassic Park.
Speaking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via ScreenRant), the producer and writer of the upcoming film, Colin Trevorrow, revealed that Ian Malcolm’s dialogue will be based on the original novel that the source material is based on, Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel. Trevorrow also stated that he got some input from Goldblum himself.
“You know, I did rely on [Michael] Crichton for a lot. I used a lot of Crichton dialogue. Maybe one of my highlights of this whole process is Goldblum. Jeff Goldblum called me – and I’m not going to do an impression – but he was like, ‘Look, I’ve added a couple of things, and I thought I’d perform it for you.’ [Laughs] Oh, great, okay. So, we sat on the phone for an hour as he ran these lines, and I talked about it. And, I mean, that’s – it was almost better than being there on set. It was great.”
Directed by J. A. Bayona, Jurassic World 2 stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Ted Levine, Geraldine Chaplin and James Cromwell, as well as franchise veterans Jeff Goldblum and BD Wong.
Jurassic World 2 will be in theaters June 22, 2018.
