Long before Zack Snyder launched the DC Extended Universe, George Miller was set to direct Justice League Mortal with Armie Hammer portraying Batman. The project was ultimately canceled just before principal photography was about to begin, but new material continues to offer fans a hint what Justice League Mortal might have looked like had it been realized on screen and storyboard art reveals Armie Hammer’s Caped Crusader watching his own burial from afar.
You can check out the storyboard of Armie Hammer’s Batman in the post below!
In addition to Armie Hammer as Batman, Justice League: Mortal would have also featured D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Common as Green Lantern, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Adam Brody as The Flash, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter, Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord and Teresa Palmer as Talia Al Ghul. Late Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin was also on board as Wally West.
Of course, a Justice League project was finally brought to the big screen by Zack Snyder years later. Here’s the official synopsis for that movie:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
