During the podcast Meet The Movie Press, Jeff Sneider announced that Warner Bros. is looking at Szifron to take on the Justice League Dark film, along with IT director Andrés Muschietti, another Argentinian filmmaker. Muschietti previously directed 2013’s Mama, a horror film starring Jessica Chastain. With both directors’ names being thrown around, it’s hard to see who they’ll choose.
Personally, I believe Szifron is an odd, but splendid and refreshing choice to direct the picture, thanks to his visual and narrative style. Wild Tales managed to weave a variety of narratives together, along with multiple genres, to create an odd, sincere, and grossly violent film. If anything, Szifron will be able to manage both the heart and tension of the film with ease, if he’s given the gig.
Without a single frame shot, DC’s Justice League Dark has suffered a tumultuous production. Original director Guillermo del Toro left the project in 2015 after making it a priority for Warner Bros. Afterwards, Doug Liman of Edge of Tomorrow fame was announced as the film’s director, but that quickly changed when he recently dropped out.
Justice League Dark currently does not have a director, plot, cast, or release date. Be sure to check back to read the latest news on Justice League Dark and other DC films.
