Zatara is a character who hasn’t made his way to the big screen yet, but he is one of DC’s earliest villains. In fact, Zatara appeared in the very first issue of Action Comics, which debuted in 1938. The character Zatara is a normal magician by day, but an actual master of the dark arts by night. Zatara was set to appear in the Justice League Dark movie, though no major announcements regarding that film have been made in quite some time.
While fans wait in anticipation, they can check out new Justice League Dark concept art that features Zatara being imprisoned. The Justice League Dark concept art finds Zatara being tied down in a hospital bed by two characters, who remain unnamed but fans may notice that they appear to be John Constantine and Zatanna. Check out the awesome Justice League Dark concept art in the Reddit post below.
At one point, Guillermo del Toro was at the helm of the Justice League Dark movie which, at that time, was titled Dark Universe. Then it was revealed that Doug Liman would direct the film, but he eventually left the project in 2017. It makes sense for Zatara to be part of the Justice League Dark cast given his connection to the character Zatanna, a fan-favorite member of the Justice League Dark team and his daughter.

Fans may have to wait for a while to see Justice League Dark bring Zatara to the big screen, but in the meantime, fans can see the superhero origin film Shazam! in theaters now. Check out the synopsis here:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! is playing in theaters today!
