Justice League received mixed reviews and was a box office disappointment for Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films. It ended up becoming the lowest-grossing film in the series despite it being the culmination of Snyder’s previous films Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While the film certainly has its fans, many have also expressed disdain towards the theatrical cut, with some even campaigning that a “Snyder Cut” should be released.
Some fans have also hoped to hear what Junkie XL brought to the table with his score for the film that was ultimately canned. In a recent interview, Junkie XL was asked about whether or not parts of the thematic elements of his score from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would also play a part in Justice League. The composer responded briefly:
“Let me just give you a simple answer: of course. I can’t dive too deep into it because at a certain point, Joss [Whedon] took over from Zack [Snyder] and he wanted a slightly different approach so obviously he went in a different direction.”
Likely for legal reasons, Junkie XL couldn’t further elaborate into his original plans for the score of the film given the circumstances of the entire production process.
Are you sad that Junkie XL never got to have his original score for Justice League be used in the film? What did you make of the score by Danny Elfman? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news in the DC Extended Universe.
