Back in 2007, before there was an Iron Man or even an Avengers film, there was a movie in production called Justice League Mortal that unfortunately ran into complications and never saw the light of day. At the time, Justice League Mortal had Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller at the helm and a finished script written by Michele and Kiernan Mulroney who went on to write the sequel to Sherlock Holmes after this film failed to take off.
The film was set to star Armie Hammer as Batman, Common as John Stewart aka Green Lantern, Santiago Cabrera (Heroes) as Aquaman, D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord, Teresa Palmer as Talia Al Ghul, Adam Brody as The Flash, and Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter.
A behind the scenes photo gives us an early concept of what Martain Manhunter could have looked like in Justice League Mortal. You can see the early concept of Martian Manhunter in the photo below!

Today, we’ve seen a controversial Justice League film hit theaters featuring Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavil), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and the Flash (Ezra Miller).
We got a cameo of an unknown Green Lantern in the same Justice League film, but our fan-favorite superhero named Martian Manhunter has yet to see his theatrical debut. This would have been different if George Miller’s Justice League Mortal had been completed.
Following Aquaman, which is now playing, the DCEU continues with Shazam! on April 5, 2019, followed by Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
Here’s the official synopsis for Justice League:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
Justice League is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD.
