‘Justice League’: Zack Snyder’s Possible Choice For Darkseid Teases Fans With New Photo

Actor Ray Porter teased fans with a photo of a Darkseid toy following reports claiming he was Zack Snyder’s choice to play the villain in Justice League.

Earlier this week, Zack Snyder seemingly confirmed rumors that he cast actor Ray Porter as Darkseid in his original cut of Justice League before the film was retooled following his exit. Now, Ray Porter has teased fans with a photo featuring a Darkseid toy placed on a bookshelf and included the following caption:

“I like old books and I cannot lie.”

Darkseid was originally going to play a larger role in Zack Snyder’s original cut of Justice League and subsequent films. However, after Joss Whedon assumed directorial duties during post-production and oversaw extensive re-shoots for Justice League, Darkseid was removed from the theatrical cut and Warner Bros. reassessed their plans for future DC Extended Universe films following the underwhelming reviews and box office gross of the superhero team-up film.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD. The DCEU continues forward with Shazam! which is now playing, Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
