Much has been said about the reshoots of Justice League. After Zack Snyder departed his directorial duties following a family tragedy, Joss Whedon (The Avengers) came in to direct the reshoots which also included the infamous sequences in which Henry Cavill as Superman is shown to have had his mustache from Mission: Impossible – Fallout to be digitally removed. Since the film’s release, Henry Cavill in Justice League has turned into a meme.
So far, only the original theatrical cut of Justice League remains as the only version of the film available for the public to view. With that in mind, deleted scenes from Zack Snyder’s original version have been subject to discussion, particularly those scenes that involve Henry Cavill in the Superman suit. In one deleted scene, Superman is shown ready to take flight as shown in a behind -the-scenes still from Justice League:
It remains unknown whether or not the original Zack Snyder version of Justice League will ever see the light of day, but he has said that a cut does in fact exist.
Henry Cavill walked away from negotiations to reprise his role as Superman last year after the studio failed to reach an agreement with the actor that would have seen him return for a cameo, delivering two lines of dialogue in Shazam!. The rumor that Henry Cavill’s version of Superman would appear but that we wouldn’t actually get to see Henry Cavill’s face turned out to be true. Warners managed to get away with this by simply keeping Superman’s head out of the frame of the two shots he was in.
The actor is currently filming The Witcher series for Netflix but fans still hope for Henry Cavill’s return as Superman in the DCEU.
What do you think of this image? Do you hope we get to see more of Henry Cavill as Superman? Perhaps as intended by Zack Snyder if we were to see his version of Justice League get released? Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of DC Films, Justice League, Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill as we learn it.
