‘Justice League’ Director Zack Snyder On Young Darkseid’s Quest

There’s no doubt at this point that what Zack Snyder originally had in Justice League, whether in the conceptual or completed phase, was a much fuller film than what many got when the film hit theaters last November. And since the film’s release, Snyder has been sharing photos and having discussions with fans over on Vero for what he had in store for his vision of Justice League. And a huge part of that was Darkseid.

Even though Steppenwolf did mention Darkseid by name in the Justice League film itself, we didn’t actually see him or get a look at Apokolips in the film. However, we recently found out about a cut scene featuring a younger Darkseid going toe-to-toe with Ares, the main villain of 2017’s Wonder Woman.

If there’s one thing Zack Snyder does a lot of, it’s engaging fans with their many questions not just with Justice League, but his take on DC lore as a whole. One Vero poster shared the concept art of a young Darkseid, and Snyder chimed in, stating that Darkseid was “searching for something that would make him unbeatable.” So he was searching for The Batman, right? Okay, all jokes aside, what could this mean for that young Darkseid’s quest? What was he searching for? Something to strengthen the Omega Effect, maybe? Have a look at Snyder’s response below.

Perhaps this might have been revealed in a flashback, similar to the battle we did see in Justice League between the warriors of Themyscira fighting off Steppenwolf in his quest to obtain the Mother Box. Could it relate to that mural that Diana was looking at in footage and photos that did not make it to the finalized version of the film? Do you think more of the character’s  quest could eventually be revealed by Snyder? Let us know your thoughts and theories in the comments below.

Justice League is available now on Digital HD, 4K, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
