‘Suicide Squad’ Star Karen Fukuhara Shares BTS Images Of The Cast

Throwback Thursday is still a thing for some as Suicide Squad actress Karen Fukuhara has shared new behind-the-scenes photo of the film’s cast.

The photo was posted on Karen Fukuhara’s official Instagram page. In the caption of the post, Karen Fukuhara asked if Throwback Thursday was still a thing and posted a few pictures, with one of them featuring members of the Suicide Squad cast. It’s a little difficult to make out which of the Suicide Squad cast members are in the images as the lighting is not particularly good but you can clearly see Karen Fukuhara, Cara Delevingne, Jai Courtney and Jay Hernandez. In the comments, Karen Fukuhara’s Suicide Squad co-star Jai Courtney asks if this was during his birthday. The actress confirmed that it was.

Karen Fukuhara played Katana in 2016’s Suicide Squad. It is currently unknown if she will reprise her role for the upcoming James Gunn follow-up,titled The Suicide Squad. The director is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the supervillain team in his Suicide Squad movie, with Idris Elba playing a new character, Jai Courtney reprising his role as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman playing Rick Flag again, David Dastmalchian starring as Polka-Dot Man and Viola Davis returning as Amanda Waller. John Cena, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi and Peter Capaldi are also in talks for undisclosed roles, with Steve Agee voicing King Shark.

The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and Jared Leto as The Joker. It earned mixed reviews at best, but became a massive hit for Warner Bros. with a worldwide gross of $746.8 million.

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters on August 6, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news on Karen Fukuhara and the future of the DC Extended Universe!
