Karen Gillan, who wrapped her portions on Avengers 4 not too long ago, was recently on The Wrap’s “Shoot This Now” podcast. Naturally, the conversation did eventually turn to the follow-up to Infinity War, but like most players involved, Gillan remained tight-lipped. As far as the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy go, though, Karen Gillan has not heard much, but she’s optimistic that the no good space crew will continue their adventures in the future. Though she’s unaware of any conversations being had at the moment:
“I actually don’t know [what’s going on with Guardians 3], it’s the honest answer. I feel like they’re talking about it and trying to figure out what the next best move is. I’m hoping that it all comes together and we get to tell the story. It would be nice to continue it. I’m sure they will. I feel like they will. I don’t really think there’s a chance they won’t.”
And it’s great that Karen Gillan remains ever optimistic, even though, again, the future is uncertain. While it seemed, for a brief moment, that talks between Alan Horn and James Gunn would signal Gunn’s potential return to the franchise, that ended up not being the case with Disney holding firm on Gunn’s firing. Gunn has since then found new work across the lane with the DC Extended Universe, as he’s been brought in to write Suicide Squad 2, and work on the third Guardians of the Galaxy film has been put on hold.
Coupled with actors like Dave Bautista and Chris Pratt finding work elsewhere in light of the delay for the next Guardians of the Galaxy film and it’s difficult to say just when work will ultimately resume. But at least Karen Gillan is hopeful that their adventures will continue. First, though, the team has to come back together, which will hopefully be the case in Avengers 4 next year. Are you in agreement with Karen Gillan’s optimism for the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy films? Let us know in the comments below.
