Speaking before TrekMovie at the Star Trek Las Vegas 2017, Karl Urban revealed that he’s discussing a return to the Judge Dredd franchise with the team working on the new show:
“I am in discussions with them about that. I told them that if they write the material and give [Judge Dredd] something to do and give him a function, I will be there. I would love to.”
Whether or not Karl Urban is involved in the project, it’s still unclear if Judge Dredd: Mega-City One will serve as a sequel to Dredd (especially since Dredd‘s executive producer Adi Shankar will not be involved). In any case, it’s great to hear that he could be returning to portray the face of law enforcement in the future.
Regardless of whether or not Karl Urban signs on, Judge Dredd: Mega-City One is still expected to be about two years away (possibly a bit less if production moves quickly enough), and it’s yet to be confirmed what network the show will air on.
