Kate Beckinsale Doesn’t Regret Not Playing Wonder Woman

Once upon a time, Kate Beckinsale was tapped to play Wonder Woman and she finally reveals that she doesn’t regret not making the trip to Themyscira.

Kate Beckinsale is known the world over for her role in the Underworld franchise but a few years ago was tapped to bring Wonder Woman to life. Those plans, of course, never came to fruition but Beckinsale finally spoke to Variety about the project. She notes that he project would have been produced by Joel Silver and that while she never wore tiara – things worked out wonderfully with Gal Gadot.

“Yes, there was a period of time, a long time ago, when [producer] Joel Silver was involved with it. But it worked out beautifully. That was a wonderful film that Gal [Gadot] did.”

That’s hard to argue against! But when Variety asked if she regretted not taking on the iconic part, she, surprisingly, said that she didn’t. Why? Because Beckinsale thought the script was bad. As she herself notes:

“No. It would have been a terrible movie based on the script that I read.”

Beckinsale is a veteran actress. If she thinks a script it’s bad then by Hera the script is bad. Sadly, we’ll never get Beckinsales take on the character but thankfully we currently have Gal Gadot representing the Amazonians in the box office.

What do you think Beckinsale would have been like as Wonder Woman? Sound off in the comments below!

Wonder Woman 1984 is directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel and Gabriella Wilde.
