Keira Knightley will be rejoining co-stars Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp, and Geoffrey Rush for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
It always felt odd knowing that Bloom would be reprising his role as Will Turner for the franchise’s fifth installment, but that Knightley wouldn’t be back as Elizabeth Swan, his wife and pirate captain in her own right. They’re like two peas in a pod and this is exciting news.
But before getting carried away with excitement, it’s being reported that Knightley won’t have a large role. At least not in this film. Sources say that she’s already shot scenes for the film, but her appearance is described as “a small cameo during the end credits”.
However, her cameo will apparently make way for a much larger role in the sequel to Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and is directed by Espen Sandberg & Joachim Rønning. Here’s the synopsis:
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
The film hits theaters May 26, 2017.
