Kevin Conroy Will Not Voice Batman In New Video Game

The upcoming Warner Bros. Montreal Batman game will be going in a different direction as voice actor Kevin Conroy has confirmed that he will not be returning to the role for the upcoming video game.

Rumors of a new Batman game in development by Warner Bros. Montreal have been floating around for months but the game was seemingly confirmed by a series of social media posts made by the developers. The first post appeared to be a simple Batman symbol on Batman Day before people noticed that other symbols had been flashing on the building as well. The next day Warner Bros. Montreal added further fuel to the fire when they released a vague teaser on their Instagram account with a caption that simply said “Capture the Knight”.  Unfortunately, Warner Bros. Montreal’s new Batman game, is being made without Kevin Conroy.

While speaking to JOE.ie, Kevin Conroy confirmed that he would not be reprising his role for the upcoming Batman game:

“I’m not.”

Kevin Conroy further stated that he did not know why:

“I know. I don’t know why.”

Kevin Conroy has, of course, voiced the character for nearly thirty years. He first lent his voice to the character in Batman: The Animated Series and continued to do so for the various Paul Dini/Bruce Timm animated series. After Justice League: Unlimited concluded, Kevin Conroy would once again voice the character in several of the Batman: Arkham games. Oddly enough, the only Batman: Arkham game that Kevin Conroy did not lend his voice was Warner Bros. Montreal’s previous Batman game, Batman: Arkham Origins where the character was instead voiced by Roger Craig Smith. But, from the look of things, Warner Bros. Montreal will once again be taking a different route with the voice of Batman.

What do you all make of this news? Are you sad to hear that Keven Conroy won’t be voicing Batman for the next video game? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
