Kevin Feige Doesn’t Think ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Ends On A Cliffhanger

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained why he doesn’t think Avengers: Infinity War ends on a cliffhanger.

In the final moments of Kevin Fiege’s Avengers: Infinity War, audiences were stunned as they watched several of their favorite heroes vanish from existence after Thanos used the Infinity Stones to erase half of the population in the universe. With his life’s mission complete, Thanos retreated to a distant planet and prepared to live out the rest of his life, leaving fans to wait a full year to see if and how the Avengers could reverse his decimation.

While the end of Avengers: Infinity War left audiences with more questions than answers, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained that he doesn’t view the ending of the film as a cliffhanger in the book Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame – The Art of the Movie. As Kevin Feige explained, Avengers: Infinity War comes to a complete end because the final moments focus on Thanos relishing in his victory as opposed to the disappearance of the heroes:

“One of the reasons why we don’t consider Infinity War a cliffhanger is because the end of the movie is not the heroes disappearing. The end of the movie is Thanos content on a planet in a rather shockingly idyllic environment doing exactly what he told us he would do: sit and look upon a grateful universe. He succeeded, and that’s the end of the film. Will the Avengers try and stop him? Maybe. They’ll try. But they didn’t have much luck before, and I don’t think he’s worried that they’re going to have much luck now.
