Kevin Feige Confirms ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Ending Was Always Planned

Early on it was expected that the third Avengers film would be a two parter. Soon after that changed and Marvel confirmed that rather than being a two part film, the third Avengers film would now stand on its own as Avengers: Infinity War.

While many fans knew the threat that was coming was going to be a tough one for the beloved heroes, many did not expect the ending Infinity War had. There were many “deaths” during Infinity War making the film unpredictable and shocked fans who didn’t expect what happened. During a podcast with Variety and iHeartRadio’s Playback, Kevin Feige shared how the plans for the film remained the way they planned. Here’s what he had to say:

We did Infinty War and Endgame at the same time, but those have been the longest gestating movies we’ve ever made,” said Feige. “Four years now, almost five years. And it was always about delivering on the promise that we had set up. And the way the world received Infinity War was amazing, it was exactly what we wanted.”

It had been some time now that Kevin Feige was expecting for fans to react the way they did with Infinity War. As to how this came to be Kevin Feige explained that he knew what ending Infinity War would have due to how most films are made to have the hero win. Below he shares his thoughts about the ending:

“And that ending, which we had been working on for many years, and I do remember people, on all of the movies we’ve made and I’m sure on many of the movies we’ll make in the future, whenever the good guy wins, which is often-good guy, good woman, good hero wins-they go,’Eh, it’s kind of predictable. Good guy wins,’ Feige added.”Well sometimes that’s fun, but for years I remember thinking, ‘I wonder what they’re going to do when they don’t?’ Because we knew that was coming and it couldn’t have been better. The reaction was the best. The reaction. Was. The. Best.”

Well as many fans now know, Infinty War‘s ending scene had shocked fans around the world and had many wondering what the heroes will do next. This is exactly what Kevin Feige had planned for many years and now fans know how other films’ endings having the hero win helped him come to this conclusion for the film.

What are your thoughts on the way Kevin Feige planned the ending? Do you hope to see more films made this way? Share your thoughts below!
