Kevin Feige On Why A Classic Captain Marvel Suit Didn’t Make The Cut

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige commented on the fact that Carol Danvers won’t be wearing a classic comic book costume in Captain Marvel.

Before Carol Danvers took on the Captain Marvel mantle, the classic heroine was known as Ms. Marvel and sported a considerably more revealing outfit than her iconic red and blue costume. The upcoming Captain Marvel film will see Carol Danvers don the red and blue suit and Kevin Feige indicated that this was always going to be the case when he recounted an early meeting with Brie Larson:

“If you look at the comics, the further you go back, the less clothes Carol Danvers seems to be wearing. Oftentimes it’s a one-piece bathing suit basically, with outrageous comic proportions. … Brie pointed it out on the wall, and we went, ‘Yeah … just so you know, that’s not what we’re doing.’ She goes, ‘OK. I didn’t think so, but I’m glad you said that.'”
