Kevin Feige Subtly Shades Previous ‘Fantastic Four’ Movies; Talks Marvel Studios’ Plans

During an interview with Variety, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige briefly discussed plans for the Fantastic Four and threw subtle shade at the previous film versions of Marvel’s First Family.

Under 20th Century Fox, two iterations of the Fantastic Four were brought to the big screen and both versions were lambasted by fans of the beloved Marvel family. While Disney’s acquisition of Fox’s film studios was met with mixed reactions, the silver lining for comic book fans was that control of the Fantastic Four film rights would revert to Marvel Studios as a result.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed a Fantastic Four project was being developed, though further details were not provided. However, Kevin Feige later took a subtle jab at the previous Fantastic Four films by suggesting he feels they did not do the characters justice:

“All of that is spoilers, but I’m extremely excited about those characters and about bringing Marvel’s first family up sort of to the platform and the level that they deserve.”

Fantastic Four is set to be part of Marvel Studio’s future plans following the universe-changing events of Avengers: Endgame.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers:Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo,  Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame will be available on Digital HD starting July 30 followed by a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on August 13.
