Kevin Feige On ‘Wonder Woman’ & What DC Can Learn From The MCU

Kevin Feige is a huge comics fan and has helped to create the most successful cinematic universe yet in 10 years at Marvel. So what does he think about DC’s attempts to jumpstart their own?

Earlier this week, Heroic Hollywood editor in chief and reporter at The Wrap Umberto Gonzalez sat down for a one on one interview with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige at the Thor: Ragnarok junket in Beverly Hills. With many studios trying to start their own cinematic universes, he asked Feige what he thought DC could learn from the MCU. Feige responded:

“I don’t know. I’m not one to bestow advice onto others. I think you can look at what they did with ‘Wonder Woman’ and they’ve figured that out. I’ve got great confidence in Geoff Johns over there and now Joss Whedon helping them out that just makes me excited as a fan to see what’s next.”

Wonder Woman, of course, has been a huge success for DC and a solid foundation in the formation of their cinematic universe. With Geoff Johns acting as a sort of “creative godfather” of DC Films, which is a similar executive role that Feige has over at Marvel Studios, it is clear that Feige sees the quality that has resulted from Johns’ leadership as an indication that they are on the right track. Feige also has confidence in Whedon, currently working on Justice League and Batgirl, after working with him to develop the MCU and shepherd the superhero team-ups in The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
