Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Explains Why Kamala Khan Is Not In ‘Captain Marvel’

It seems that Kamala Khan will not be in the upcoming Captain Marvel film but studio boss Kevin Feige had a very good explanation as to why.

During a recent interview with Comicbook.com, the producer was asked if Kamala Khan would be featured in the upcoming film. Kevin Feige simply said no and explained why. According to the producer, Kamala Khan’s story is a contemporary one about a teenager. She would not have even been born when Captain Marvel is taking place.

He then went on to say that Captain Marvel first had to be established in order to build up the character as Kamala Khan’s hero:

No. I think she’s a contemporary story. I don’t think she was a little kid in 1990. I’m not sure she was born in 1995. This is the first step towards introducing her hero is how you begin to bring her about at some point.

From the look things, Kamala Khan will probably be featured in a film in the future!

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
