Kevin Feige On The Chemistry Between The Marvel Cinematic Universe Actors

During an interview for Titan’s Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years book, Kevin Feige discussed the casting process for the shared cinematic universe.

Titan and Marvel celebrated the 10th anniversary of the studio’s cinematic universe with a new book reflecting on the past decade of the MCU. While discussing the casting process for the films, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained that they consider an actor’s potential chemistry with the stars of other MCU films when selecting a performer for any role:

“We always cast for the movie we’re making, but we also have an eye on the future. So when we were casting Chris Pratt, we needed the best Star-Lord, but at the same time, we said, “We need somebody who one day might go toe to toe with Robert Downey Jr. On the very first day of Avengers: Infinity War there was Robert, Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, and it was pretty amazing! There have been a handful of times in our ten years here at Marvel Studios where we have had to just stop for a second and pinch ourselves. That was one of those moments.”

Fans may have to bid farewell to some of those actors as the contract for several long-time stars are set to expire after the Kevin Feige’s fourth Avengers film.

A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers 4 is expected to star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt.

Avengers 4 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 3, 2019.
