Included in Kevin Feige’s plans for the fourth phase of the Marvel Studios cinematic universe is the feature film titled Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. Based on the eponymous hero from the comics, Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings will mark the first Marvel Studios film to feature an Asian superhero in the lead role.
During a conversation between the New York Film Academy, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige discussed the future of the MCU and the topic of Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings was raised. While Kevin Feige did not reveal a precise date, the Marvel Studios president did confirm Shang-Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings will start filming in just a few months:
“I went to my then assistant Jonathan Schwartz, who is now in Australia producing Shang-Chi & The Legend of The Ten Rings that goes into production in a few months.”
Of course, many fans are expecting Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings to incorporate elements of kung-fu films. However, Kevin Feige confirmed the Marvel film will feature kung-fu movie elements but added it will be so much more as well:
“Shang-Chi is going to be so much more than a kung-fu movie, but it has elements of that which we’re excited about.”
