Filmmaker Kevin Smith addresses if he would accept an offer to direct 'The Flash' movie following the departure of Rick Famuyiwa.
Smith revealed that he would accept the offer, but not before suggesting other filmmakers first.
“If somebody was like ‘Do you want to do The Flash movie?’ then this would honestly be my first response. I’d say absolutely, but you should try Tim Miller first. Or I’d say the Wachowskis. I’d list a bunch of other people who I would think would make a brilliant Flash movie.”
Smith, who previously voiced his support for Deadpool director Tim Miller as a contender for the job, continued to champion the filmmaker. Calling Miller a “visual genius” and claiming his pairing with The Flash would be “a match made in heaven”, Smith did reveal one scenario where he would offer his own services.
If Tim Miller was like, ‘Man, I hate the Flash,’ then I’d be like ‘F**k Tim Miller, I’ll do it.’”
It appears the often self-deprecating filmmaker recognizes that there may be more qualified candidates to direct a big budget, special effects driven superhero film. However, it’s reassuring to know that if he is ever called on to direct the project, the genuine fan boy will have his heart and enthusiasm in the right place.
