Kevin Tancharoen Directing ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Season Three Finale

This week’s episode of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. might just have been the best of the season and without a doubt director Kevin Tancharoen (Mortal Kombat: Legacy) was one of the factors that played into that. Tancharoen is no stranger to the series and has directed some of it’s best episodes over the course of the last two seasons including “Face Of My Enemy”, “One Of Us”, “The Dirty Half Dozen” and “Purpose In The Machine”. This will, however, be the first season finale that the director has tackled and had the following to say on the matter.

I literally am just starting to dive into the treatment and the outline and the script and everything and just getting into it. Since it’s the finale I’m taking it very, very seriously. I want to make sure it sets a new bar in some way from what I’ve done on the show. This is my first finale, so I want to make sure it’s something really solid or there’s something signature in there.

The whole season is leading up to this one episode, arguably, to lead it into the next year. I think story-wise and the emotions with the characters and the performances have to be just as on point as the action, because of course the action is going to be huge. That’s something I’m really trying to focus on in this particular episode, because people are going to be leaving their favorite characters for quite some time until they come back next season.

The two-hour season finale will air on Tuesday May 17th on ABC at 9/8c. Sound off with your thoughts on this news in the comments section below.
