New footage for Guy Ritchie's new film 'King Arthur: Legend of the Sword' premiered at CinemaCon 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
According to Hunnam, fans can expect a much different take from the legend we have all known for so long. He described his portrayal of the character as “the exact opposite” of what has been shown in films before.
The new footage depicts Vortigern (Jude Law) speaking to Arthur in prison. Vortigern asks Arthur about how different he think his life would be had he inherited his father’s kingdom instead of being brought up in a brother. It is also shown that Vortigern had killed Arthur’s father which sets up his motivations for the story.
When young Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur (Charlie Hunnam) comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down, and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy whether he likes it or not.
Directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Charlie Hunnam, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbe, Djimon Honsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law and Eric Bana, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword opens in theaters on May 12.
