Taron Egerton first portrayed Eggsy in director Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service and reprised the role in the sequel The Golden Circle. However, Egerton confirmed that with the third film in the franchise heading in a new direction, Eggsy won’t be appearing in the next installment:
“That doesn’t mean I won’t be in Kingsman ever again. I was with Matthew [Vaughn] as little as a few days ago, we’re still very much in business together, but his next journey in that world doesn’t involve me.”
Taron Egerton did assure fans that while he won’t be in the next film, the concept for the project is exciting and audiences will see Eggsy again someday:
“His idea for the new one is incredibly exciting. I’m sad that I won’t be on that journey with him but it’s not the last you’ve seen of Eggsy.”
Based on Mark Millar’s comic book series of the same name, the Kingsman film series followed the efforts of a British spy organization as they battle various foes and thwart world-ending schemes. Kingsman 3 is said to be set during the early 20th Century and will introduce a teen hero named Conrad and a new adult character.
Kingsman 3 is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 9, 2019.
