Reports first emerged that Kit Harington would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yesterday. Marvel Studios have now confirmed the reports, announcing Kit Harington will play Dane Whitman aka Black Knight in The Eternals at during The Walt Disney Studios presentation at D23 today.
Kit Harington joins the cast which includes Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Barry Keoghan, and Gemma Chan.
Marvel Studios has tapped Chloe Zhao to direct the project from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. The duo is best known for their spec script Ruin which managed to reach the top of the 2017 Black List.
Plot details for The Eternals remain under wraps, however, the story reportedly features a love story between Ikaris and Sersi. Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the Eternals are a fictional evolutionary offshoot of humanity created by the Celestials over a million years ago. The beings who possess superpowers and longer lifespans were the result of genetic experiments that led to the creation of two divergent races: The Eternals and The Deviants.
