The Eternals is set to be Marvel’s most expansive and ambitious films, telling a narrative that spans over a thousand years. Tapped to join the ever-expanding Marvel universe is Kumail Nanjiani, one of pop culture’s most interesting figures. Joining Kumail Nanjiani for Marvel’s latest is a diverse, talented cast which includes the likes of Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, who will be joining the Silicon Valley star in bringing justice to the universe.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kumail Nanjiani discussed how The Eternals is going to be Marvel’s most science-fiction film.
“It’s really, really an epic. And it’s really such a science-fiction story. It’s a superhero story, but in some ways, it’s the most sci-fi of all the Marvel movies and it’s the most epic of all the Marvel movies. And the story spans thousands of years. So it’s really not like any of the other Marvel movies.”
Marvel’s first foray into hardcore science-fiction was Guardians of the Galaxy, which paved the way for future Marvel films to explore the cosmos and other far reaches of the universe. Since then, films like Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame have continued to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s space geography. With The Eternals, one can only imagine where Kumail Nanjiani and co. will be going.
