‘The LEGO Movie Sequel’ To Be Rewritten By ‘BoJack Horseman’ Creator

The Lego Movie was one of the most enthralling animated films of this past decade. It’s a film so good that it can satisfy even the most cynical individuals as it welcomes the audience in such a loving embrace through its colorful world. The film was a big hit with both critics and audiences alike, making $469 million worldwide, and inevitably, a sequel was given the green light.

Although the original film’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are busy with the young Han Solo movie, they will remain involved with The Lego Movie Sequel as producers and have even penned the original draft for the film. Now, it looks like this new sequel will be given a rewrite. According to Variety, Warner Bros. has hired BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg to rewrite the original script.

This will be Waksberg’s first big screen opportunity, having had television experience obviously with Netflix’s BoJack Horseman, Adult Hospital, and Save Me. BoJack Horseman’s third season will premiere on Netflix July 22.

This new chapter for this sequel seems to be taking an interesting turn with Waksberg giving it a rewrite. His sense of humor is very distinct, and can be pretty dark at times based on his past work, but it’s undoubtedly fascinating to see what he can do with The Lego Movie Sequel, which will also be the directorial debut of Rob Schrab.

The Lego Movie Sequel will hit theaters on February 8, 2019 – just about five years after the original.
