‘Underworld’: Len Wiseman Producing Television Series

Len Wiseman, who directed and co-wrote both Underworld and its first sequel Underworld: Evolution, has confirmed that a show based on the vampire-versus-werewolf franchise will be getting a television series.

Deadline has reported that Wiseman is finally getting an Underworld television series off the ground. He will serve as the primary producer for the project, which is also being worked on by his production company Sketch Films (which has handled the franchise ever since he opted not to direct the third movie in the series) and Lakeshore Entertainment (which has been with the franchise for all five movies), and will be distributed by Sony Pictures Television. Wiseman has told fans that they should expect a different experience with the show compared to the movies:

“The series will be a pretty big departure from the films. I don’t want to say it’s more adult, but it’s definitely less comic book in its tone and character.”

On an incidental note, Wiseman – who also directed Live Free or Die Hard – is working on another Die Hard movie that will feature extended flashback scenes with a younger actor portraying John McClaine in the 1970s.

Both the tentatively-titled Die Hard: Year One and the untitled Underworld television series are in development.
