Linda Hamilton Refused To Say Certain Lines In ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’

Linda Hamilton and Tim Miller had very different ideas as to what they wanted to do with Sarah Connor in Terminator: Dark Fate.

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Linda Hamilton talked a bit about her time on Terminator: Dark Fate. Interestingly enough, she seems to have a very clear idea as to what she wanted to do with the character of Sarah Connor and was at odds with what director Tim Miller wanted. According to Hamilton, Tim Miller wanted the character to be more relatable while Linda Hamilton called her anything but:

“There was an approach thing that I had to sort out with Tim because Tim was shooting it like an independent, as he keeps saying. I still — because I haven’t seen it — barely understand what that means. But, in terms of approach, he wanted her ‘relatable.’ That was the word he used. And I was like Sarah Connor has never been relatable! She was relatable in the first movie as a nice waitress, but what do you mean ‘relatable’? You are trying to make her softer? I just knew that with the time that had passed and as her situation changed, she ain’t relatable.”

This certainly rings true with Linda Hamilton’s performance in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. While in the first film, Sarah Connor did seem like an everyday waitress, the second film had her play a borderline unhinged lunatic.
