Disney’s Live-Action ‘Mulan’ Will Not Include Any Of The Songs

Director Niki Caro confirms that Disney's live-action adaptation of the beloved animated classic, 'Mulan', will not include any of the songs.

Last month, Niki Caro was announced as the director of Mulan, Disney’s next live-action adaptation.

Originally a musical with amazing and memorable songs like “Reflection” and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You,” Caro has now confirmed in an interview with Moviefone that, as far as she knows, the live-action version of the beloved animated classic will not include any of the songs from the original film.

Yes, from what I understand, no songs right now, much to the horror of my children.

This is very strange considering that both Beauty and the Beast and last year’s The Jungle Book incorporated the songs. Disney even went out of their way to make a few new songs to include in Beauty and the Beast, so it’s unclear why they would decide to leave out such an important piece of Mulan. It’s also very disappointing because the songs from Disney’s animations are part of what make them so great and also magical.

As the film draws nearer to production, we’ll find out more behind the reasons Disney has decided to cut the songs from Mulan. As of right now, it’s a low blow.

What do you think about the decision to leave out the songs from the live-action movie? Let us know in the comments below!

Mulan is slated to hit theaters November 2, 2018.
