‘Logan’: Brand New Image Shows Wolverine On The Run

Out of all the upcoming comic book films to come out this year, Logan certainly looks to be the most mature of the bunch. Hugh Jackman’s last hurrah as Wolverine will be rated R, and the buzz from people who got a chance to see the first 40 minutes of the film is overwhelmingly positive. Just from the film’s first trailer alone, it looks like James Mangold has captured a tone that we have yet to see in a modern superhero film, and to see his western sensibilities applied to Logan puts it near the top as one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

Mangold has showcased some beautiful cinematography in his past filmography, and the many shots we have seen from Logan are yet another testament to his skill as a filmmaker. In fact, even in a still image, we get a taste of his directorial sensibilities. Hugh Jackman tweeted a photo from the film, captioned “Fight or Flight” depicting Logan on the run with his claws retracted .

I have no doubt that the action in Logan is going to be remarkable. Mangold has an eye for some well-crafted set pieces, and the dedication that Jackman puts into these stunts is awe-inspiring. But above anything else, the script needs to show that the stakes are higher than ever for Wolverine and Professor X. Also, with X-23 now in the mix, audiences must prepare themselves for what she has in store. For all those reasons and more, March cannot come any sooner.
