New ‘Logan’ Photo Featuring Stephen Merchant As Caliban

We met Caliban in this summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, but James Mangold’s Logan includes another version of that character, played by actor Stephen Merchant.

In the movie, Caliban helps Logan (Hugh Jackman) take care of Professor X (Patrick Stewart), who’s said to be very sick, with his powers growing increasingly unstable. That’s pretty much all that we know about his role so far, but we should learn more details as we get closer to the film’s release.

We’ve already seen a couple of black-and-white photos of Merchant in full costume as Caliban, but the latest one might just be the best one yet. You can check it out below.

Set in 2024, Logan follows Wolverine and Professor X in a climate where mutants are no longer a big part of the world’s population. The two come across a young girl named Laura, who has similar powers to the titular chararacter and is being hunted by an evil corporation known as Transigen.

Logan opens in theaters on March 3, 2017. The cast also includes Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Richard E. Grant as Zander Rice, Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney/X-23, with Elizabeth Rodriguez, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal.
