Logan, directed by James Mangold, is among the many titles that were added to the festival’s official lineup this morning. The list also includes Danny Boyle’s T2 Trainspotting, the follow-up to his 1996 cult favorite starring Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle.
A brand new trailer for Logan is also expected to arrive very soon, possibly even this week. The first sneak peek made its debut back in October, but there hasn’t been any new footage since.
Set in the near future, Logan follows Wolverine and Professor X in a climate where mutants are no longer a big part of the world’s population. The two come across a young girl named Laura, who has similar powers to the titular character and is being hunted by an evil corporation known as Transigen.
Logan opens in theaters on March 3, 2017. The cast also features Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Richard E. Grant as Zander Rice, Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney/X-23, with Elizabeth Rodriguez, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal.
