‘Logan’ Ticket Sales Outpacing Previous ‘X-Men’ Movies

With Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine movie Logan hitting theaters this week, Fandago reports that advance tickets sales for the highly anticipated film are currently outpacing all previous X-Men movies (not counting Deadpool) and the last two solo outings of the titular character at the same point in their sales cycle.

As Deadline reveals, 20th Century Fox is expecting Logan to have an opening weekend of at least $65 million in North America. X-Men Origins: Wolverine debuted at $85 million back in 2009, with its sequel, The Wolverine, grossing $53 million in its first weekend in 2013. However, both of these films were rated PG-13, while Logan is rated R.

The James Mangold-directed movie is also tracking for a global opening of $170 million or higher, depending on how it performs in China. We’ll have more box office updates on the film over the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

Logan opens this Friday, March 3rd. The film also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Richard E. Grant as Zander Rice, Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney/X-23, with Elizabeth Rodriguez, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal.
