'Logan', which is the last film in which Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine is currently tracking high days before its opening weekend at the worldwide tallies.
Now, Deadline is reporting that on a global scale, the James Mangold-directed film will enjoy a hefty opening weekend. According to the report, Logan is tracking to rake in at least $170 million.
Obviously, given the R-rating for the film, it’s easy to believe that the film wouldn’t gross nearly as much if it were PG-13. However, given the tracking as well as taking the success of Deadpool under consideration, the R-rating would arguably entice older audiences to see Hugh Jackman’s last turn as the character in a fitting, vulgar and bloody fashion.
March is certainly going to be an exciting month at the movies. Not only is Logan tracking to do well, but Kong: Skull Island and particularly Beauty and the Beast are going to bring in the big crowds to the theaters. It seems that every year, what was originally just the summer blockbuster season has extended year-round.
How large of an opening weekend do you see Logan attaining? Do you think it can break Deadpool’s record for an R-Rated film? Sound off in the comments below.
In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
Directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant, Eriq LaSalle, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Boyd Holdbrook, Logan claws its way to theaters on March 3.
